What is a L200 spectrograph ?

The L200 is a littrow design slit spectrograph develloped by Ken Harrison for amateur who wants build one by themself. It's a good start and more for serious spectroscopy. Different grates, adjustable slit, let's John Strachan (say a sccotish "Strarren") present his own.

First echelle spectra of AZ Cas

Here is an echelle spectra showing h alpha red wing in emission. Order 49 to 28, 4550A to 8000A seems to be good for exploitation. Threre is not enough signal in the blue to achieve a good snr so i didn't extract blue orders. It is the first echelle spectra for the AZ Cas 2012-2014 campaign Merged version (quick look): 20120710_222814_AZcas_6x1200s_FULL_TGarrel Zip archive with individuals orders (best) 20120710_222814_AZcas_6x1200s_TGarrel

The nova sgr 2012 No4 was discovered by Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume,Japan and Fujio Kabashima, Miyak, Japan. CBAT I have obtained an echelle spectrum (R~11000) of the Nova Sgr 2012 No.4 (CBET3166) on July 8.872 (UT), using the eshell spectrometer attached to the 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at the fontcaude observatory, France. Emission lines of Balmer series, Fe II , Na I D and O I (7773) can be seen in the spectrum.  At the time of exposure, the nova sgr 2012 No4 was at magV 7.8 (TAROT). Zip archive of 21 individual Fit... [Lire la suite]

AZ Cas eclipse and periastron passage of 2012-2014, a new campaign

Spectroscopic observations are required for AZ cas (mV 9.3) http://www.konkoly.hu/cgi-bin/IBVS?6027 http://www.astri.uni.torun.pl/~cgalan/AZCas/  i'm still trying to catch a spectra, first one i've took was from a brighter B7II star around....  Here are  comments from Cezary Galan  "Please do not be discouraged (such mistakes do happen and important only "to catch" them early) and try again to obtain spectrum of AZ Cas. It could be difficult, because AZ Cas is about 3 mag fainter than HR 488, however at... [Lire la suite]

Publication of results of the Epsilon aurigae spectroscopic campaign

For HVAR2012, publication by AAVSO of results of the spectroscopic campaign on epsilon aurigae are available. An analysis of the behaviour of the K 7699A and Na D lines by Robin Leadbeater  during eclipse can be found here http://arxiv.org/abs/1206.6754 An analysis of the behaviour of the h alpha line by Benjamin Mauclaire during eclipse can be found here http://arxiv.org/abs/1207.0795 A large collection of spectra has been gathered by Robin Leadbeater...
